Intro to V4V

Welcome to the V4V homepage. This page outlines who we are, what we do, why we do it, how you can help and, finally, how to get in touch or follow us online.

Vehicles for Victory: Who we are

We support Ukraine’s freedoms, and oppose Putin’s devastating and anti-democratic war. Putin started wars with Chechnya, Moldova, Georgia, and Syria, followed in 2022 by his most reckless strike: the full-scale invasion of democratic Ukraine. Who does he intend to attack next? NATO warned in April 2024 that the risk of a high-intensity war in Europe is no longer a fantasy. We believe that only victory for Ukraine will halt this cycle and bring lasting peace.

We are one of several organizations delivering 4WD vehicles where they are needed, plus aid transported in the vehicles. Every 4WD is invaluable as it directly saves Ukrainian lives and is one of many tiny steps to end Putin’s war. In April 2024 we made our third vehicle delivery, and we are committed to continuing for the duration of the war.

We are a grassroots volunteer community from UK, mainly around the “three counties” Gloucestershire, Herefordshire, Worcestershire, and from Cheshire, Essex, Norfolk, and Staffordshire. Our community extends to the EU, including Belgium, and Germany. We have a network across Ukraine: from the west – Liiv; to east – Kharkiv. We are in the process of registering as a UK social enterprise and as a Ukrainian charity.

Every penny you donate goes directly to Ukraine thanks to our streamlined volunteer operation.

Mission in Action: What we do

Every contribution we receive translates into tangible support on the ground. We procure cost-effective second-hand vehicles in the UK from cash funding and take on used 4WDs – whose donors are invited to self-drive their vehicles on one of our convoys, or those of partner organizations. We stress again that every vehicle directly saves Ukrainian lives and in a small way shortens Putin’s war, so they’re invaluable when converted into:

• Ambulances: That dramatically improve survival rates of the wounded by getting them treated within the critical “golden hour”. [see picture above in the headline, Kharkiv ambulance conversion workshop, 2023]

• Utility Vehicles: For the swift movement of personnel and supplies around the frontlines. These 4WDs, limit people’s exposure to danger. One of our partner organizations ‘Lviv Volunteer Kitchens’ daily drives thousands of fresh meals to the front. [see picture below, Kharkiv re-spray workshop on the way to front line, 2023]

• Mobile workshops: For field maintenance of essential mechanized equipment, crucial for increasing safety and winning freedom. [see picture below, Kyiv mobile repair workshops, 2023]

• Humanitarian Aid: Vehicles travelling east transport medical supplies, non-perishable food, and other humanitarian aid, as well as technical aid.

Your Support Matters: Why we do it

We stress again that every vehicle directly saves Ukrainian lives and in a small way shortens Putin’s war. [Unfortunately, many lives are lost – including that of Andrei, pictured below in July 2023. He worked as a chef for Nina, one of our Ukrainian members, whose powerful statement on the war you can read below.]

Our non-Ukrainian members, inspired by the unwavering spirit of the Ukrainian people, are committed to supporting Ukraine’s freedoms, opposing Putin’s war, and to the humanitarian causes of saving lives, and easing suffering.

Our Ukrainian members have no choice but to struggle for their existence. One of our senior members in Lviv expressed this clearly:

“I ask you to be far from calling this war senseless.”

[a UK member had said the fighting is “senseless”, meaning it should stop. This is the Ukrainian response]

“For us, it is a war for existence. Of the state of Ukraine. Of the nation of Ukrainians. Of the rights and freedoms of democracy. And this is our sense.

For russia, this is a war for the destruction of a people who want to be independent from moscow. Complete destruction, seizure of land, settlement of russians there. Because russia believe that freedom should not exist in Ukraine. And this is the invader’s sense.

And, be sure, they want to destroy freedom and democracy all over the world. They just started with Ukraine. Now it is important to defeat the invader with the help of the West. Forever. So that he does not have the opportunity and desire to attack anyone.

This is the sense of this war.”

That is the reasoning from “ground zero”. Only two days drive from London

Ukrainian grassroots efforts to supply 4WD vehicles and aid have been immense. Typically, womenfolk scouring western Europe and diving back to their men at the front.

International support is now more critical than ever, because of dwindling Ukrainian resources, many individuals have exhausted their savings, and the attrition of vehicles – see our website videos. Stand with us in turning the tide for Ukraine.
